Despite its brief appearance, the snowflake appears three-dimensional and colorful (at least brilliant) due to the abundance of rays.

The symbol "Sixteen Pointed Asterisk" is found in the "Stars and asterisks" Subblock of the "Dingbats" Block and was added to Unicode in 1993 as part of Unicode version 1.1.
